What is Therapeutic Foster Care (TFC)?

Therapeutic Foster Care is a specialized program with licensed and certified homes to care for children with physical, emotional, or behavioral difficulties. Therapeutic Foster Care is an intensive mental health service provided to a child in a family setting utilizing specially trained foster parents.

Therapeutic Foster Care (TFC) has greater emotional and/or behavioral needs, which require more intensive foster parent training to employ strategies specific to traumatized youth, as well as increased staff support to help kids heal and thrive. The Foster Care staff provides training, support, and resources to each family throughout the fostering process.

  • Special TFC daily compensation rate per child. All payments to Therapeutic Foster Parents are nontaxable income.
